Apex Toolbox 3.10.0 - A Major Leap Forward

Update 3.10 Announcement

Apex Toolbox 3.10.0 is officially here, bringing a major upgrade to how you import, texture, animate and organise Apex Legends models in Blender.

Since the previous public release, 3.9.1, I've been working on making the entire process faster, more intuitive and less repetitive. From importing multiple models at once to browsing and applying animations directly inside Blender, this update brings previously separate workflows together into one streamlined experience.

And the best part? Everything is now available in the public stable release.

Import More. Do Less.

Importing models no longer needs to be a one-at-a-time process.

With the new batch import system, you can select multiple model folders and bring them into your scene together. Choose between row and grid arrangements to keep everything neatly organised from the start.

The updated model browser also makes finding your exports easier than ever, with:

  • Dedicated Legends, Weapons and Misc categories.
  • Filters for individual legends and weapons.
  • Search to quickly locate specific model folders.
  • Optional automatic collection creation for each imported model.

The new Import & Texture workflow combines model importing, preparation and texturing into a single process.

Need more control? Texturing and automatic rig linking can be disabled independently, letting you import exactly what you need.

A Completely Upgraded Animation Workflow

One of the biggest changes in 3.10.0 is how Apex Toolbox handles animations.

Instead of manually navigating through exported files and linking everything yourself, the Toolbox now provides a much more connected animation experience.

Apex Toolbox 3.10 Features

What's new:

  • Automatic rig linking - Matching legend animation rigs can be linked automatically when available.
  • Searchable animation browser - Browse rigs by legend and quickly find the animations you need.
  • Readable animation names - Known English clips display clearer, more recognisable names.
  • Double-click to load - Apply animations directly from the browser.
  • Individual CAST importing - Import a specific animation without linking an entire animation library.
  • Rest pose restoration - Remove an animation and return your model to its original resting pose.
  • Saved animation indexes - Reuse previously generated indexes to make browsing your exports faster.

Introducing Animation Layers

Version 3.10.0 also introduces optional animation layers.

These allow supported additive animations and poses to be combined with a base animation, with adjustable strength controls to fine-tune the result.

It's another step towards making pose creation and animation work more flexible without constantly switching between tools.

You'll still need to export your own animation rigs and sequences using RSX.

Smarter Attachments & Cleaner Scenes

Working with weapons, props and other items is now more straightforward.

You can pair items to hands or other attachment points, with rotation correction controls available when something doesn't line up correctly.

Scene organisation has also improved:

  • Create separate collections automatically during batch imports.
  • Reconnect moved RSX export files through library relinking.
  • Manage related models and assets more easily.

To bring everything together, the Toolbox sidebar has been reorganised into four dedicated tabs:

Model · Animate · Scene · Tools

Each area now has a clearer purpose, making it easier to find the controls you need without digging through the interface.

Improved Materials & Shader Organisation

This release isn't just about new features. I've also addressed several material issues that could affect how imported models look.

Improvements include:

  • Fixes for eyelash transparency.
  • Improved cornea materials.
  • Corrections for alpha textures incorrectly creating holes in solid surfaces.
  • Cleaner, more organised texture-node layouts in Blender's Shader Editor.
  • A manual Hair Cavity Fix, allowing you to apply the correction only when needed.

These changes should help imported models look more consistent while making their materials easier to inspect and edit.

Built on a Familiar Foundation

The original Apex Toolbox, created by Random Blender Dude / Gl2imm, brought together shaders, effects and a range of useful Blender utilities for Apex creators.

The ALR version continues to build on that foundation.

Alongside the original shaders, recolouring tools, rig helpers and effects, it now includes modern RSX/CAST workflows, texture discovery and repair, scene checks. And a much more integrated model and animation system.

The goal remains the same: make creating with Apex Legends assets easier, faster and more accessible.

Download Apex Toolbox 3.10.0

Version 3.10.0 is available now as the latest public stable release, tested with Blender 4.2.2 and 5.2.2.

Features that were previously limited to experimental builds are now publicly available. Older public versions remain available on the download page, while future early-access builds will continue to be offered to supporters across every tier.

Updating from an Older Version?

Restart Blender after installing the update to ensure everything loads correctly.

Existing imported models can be retextured to benefit from the material fixes. If you've manually edited their shader nodes, save a copy of your work first.

Feedback & Bug Reports

This is a substantial release, and feedback is always appreciated.

If you encounter an issue, please share the affected model, the steps needed to reproduce the problem. And your Blender and Toolbox versions in 💡toolbox-feedback on the ALR Discord.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the development of Apex Toolbox and ALR.

Enjoy 3.10.0! 🧡
